95 point & ★★★★★- James Suckling: "The deep nose of sour cherries gently pulls you into this remarkably fresh, highly structured grand cru that has a very stony personality. The fine tannins build to an impressive climax at the cool, precisely crafted finish, which shows fascinating positive vegetal complexity. From a 1.49-hectare parcel, making it the largest with a single owner in this site. Matured in small oak barrels of which 40% were new. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.

95 point - Tim Atkin: "Herbal spice, tea leaves and boysenberries burst from the glass. Resolutely concentrated, the tannins feel gentle and fluffy against the voluminous burst of ripe fruit. High-toned acidity focuses this firebrand of wine. There is a generous 1.5 hectares here, and Stehly has delivered a 2022 that is an unusually open and charming wine at this stage."

92-94 point - Rober Parker, Wine Advocate: "Offering up aromas of cherries, sweet red berries, plums and peonies, the 2022 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru is full-bodied, layered and charming, with good depth at the core, supple tannins, lively acids and a long, saline finish. Reflecting its origins without artifice, this is an honest, age-worthy Burgundy produced from a 1.49-hectare parcel of this terrific vineyard." 

Georges Lignier er med 1,49 hektar største ejer i denne uforlignelige Grand Cru, der som det er skik i Bourgogne har lagt "efternavn" til kommunen Morey. Marken ligger højere, og det blæser ifølge Benoit Stehly mere her end i nabo Grand Cru'en Clos de la Roche. Så vinen fra Clos Saint Denis er mere delikat og har større finesse og større mineralitet i den intense og koncentrerede smag. Kvaliteter, der oftere forbindes med Grands Crus fra nabo kommunen Chambolle-Musigny!
